Pastor Michael J. Golden graduated from Bible College in the Spring of 1990 and was led by the Lord to plant a church in the Harrisburg area. During the late summer of that same year, he began meeting with small groups of believers in various city homes.

Cornerstone Baptist Church held its first service on September 23, 1990, in the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 13th & Herr Streets. Services were held in this building for almost four years while many came to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior through the witnessing outreach. Despite having a pastor who worked a full-time secular job, the church grew to about 40 in attendance each week.

Cornerstone services were moved to a Methodist Church located on 15th & Derry Streets in July 1994. The congregation met for almost 18 months and the attendance grew to an average of 60 a week. The choir and Men's Bible Study began while at this facility, as the door-to-door soulwinning ministry continued.

The Lord blessed Cornerstone Baptist Church family in the Spring of 1996 with their own church home. Cornerstone continues to serve God while seeking lost souls with the love of Christ until His return.
